You have just started discovering Bollywood, or are yet to see and you do not know where to start or to go on? Well, this page is specially created for you. Here is a small list to advice your movie choices. This is, of course, based on which ones had great success (especially abroad) and are loved by most Bollywood fans. I did not choose according to my personal taste very much. I also considered the time of release, hence I only selected recent ones, so only those of the last decade though I probably will add some from the 90s. This is a (really) small selection to which I might add more movies in the future. But this is really a good way to start.
Devdas (2002)
Starring: Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Kirron Kher

Sent abroad to study, Devdas comes back years later as a grown man, while Paro has blossomed into a celestial beauty. What was affection in their childhood turns to love, but due to social differences, Devdas is forbidden to marry her. Hence starts his own ruination when he turns to alcohol and to the courtesan Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit) to forget his pain…
Veer-Zaara (2004)

He was Indian, she was Pakistani and their love knew no boundaries…
Saathiya (2002)

The love-story of Aditya (Vivek Oberoi) and Suhani (Rani Mukherjee) starts off as any romance, but when their families do not get along, marriage seems impossible. They secretly marry and then elope, but soon discover marriage is not the dreamy reality they thought it would be.
Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001)

Set in the time of the British Empire in India, Lagaan (Land Tax) tells the story of a whole village ready to beat the British to their own game, Cricket, to get their dignity back and to prevent injustice.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)

Yashvardhan is a man attached to traditions, and it is clear that his children shall marry according to his own choice. While he decides to arrange Rahul's marriage to his friend's daughter, Naina (Rani Mukherjee), Rahul meets and falls in love with Anjali (Kajol), a poor girl from Chandni Chowk.
